Established patients may use the patient portal or call the office. If your child is ill – fever, sore throat, vomiting, or other acute symptoms, contact your local PCP or seek care at your local urgent care.
If your child is sick or experiencing a medical emergency for which an immediate response is needed, DO NOT LEAVE A MESSAGE OR SEND AN EMAIL. Please call our office and let the receptionist know of your situation. The physician will be paged. Questions can be left for the Medical Staff either as a secure message through the patient portal or by calling the office. Dr. Lewis’ medical staff returns all calls, is able to answer most routine questions, and if needed, can arrange for a conversation with doctor. Calls are returned within 48 business hours. If you do not receive a call in that time period, please call again and speak to the receptionist.
Please be observant if your child’s medicine is running low or to call us if planning travel on or near the needed time for a refill. In most cases the best way to request a medication refill is to ask the pharmacy to request the refill for you, either electronically or by fax. If this is not possible, please send us a secure message through the patient portal or call during business hours. Please allow 72 hours for prescriptions (either new or refills) to be authorized and called into the pharmacy.
In the case of an emergency that cannot wait for a phone call, call 911 or go directly to the nearest Emergency Room. Urgent medical problems that cannot wait until the next day need to be evaluated by the physicians at the nearest Nationwide Children’s Hospital Close to Home Center. For questions that can be answered the next business day, please follow the directions above under Questions for the Medical Staff. For questions that cannot wait until the next business day, Dr. Lewis can be reached after-hours at 614-285-4750. Please leave a detailed message on his confidential voice mail, if he does not answer immediately. Dr. Lewis attempts to answer all questions within 30 minutes. If you do not receive a return call within that time period, please call again in case Dr. Lewis did not receive your message. Calls placed after-hours are meant for truly urgent matters related to your care at SFC that cannot wait until the next business day and may incur a charge for the provider’s time.
